Some moments of silence for Kurt Vonnegut.

I have been a fan for a long, long time. The highlight of my fandom was teaching Slaughterhouse-Five last year. The other highlight is turning young kids on to Vonnegut now. Perhaps time for me to re-read some of the hits. Yes.

Yes. Vonnegut. I am sad for us. For him, maybe he was in pain. But I would have kept him around ten more years. I'm going to teach Slaughterhouse Five next year. You know what would be cool to teach? A Vonnegut semester course. All Vonnegut, all the time!

So it goes.

That would be so great! Did you read David Ulin's piece in the Times (today or yesterday, I don't remember)? It was the one that choked me up, just one simple paragraph, plus he mentioned Camus, and it's all true.

Yes, I cut out Ulin's article and will post it at school. it was very good.

too bad about Matt and Japan (to bring your comment from my site to yours!). any chance they would have enough students at some point? i wish i could offer to take him, but i can't imagine him wanting to hang out with people he doesn't really know and do the things they want to do.

guess you and craig will have to take him!!
