Alec is no longer my favorite Baldwin.
I heard the snippet of the nasty phone message he left for his daughter, and I am aghast. There is no excuse for that kind of attack, especially from a father to a daughter.
I don't think there are any Baldwins that can win my favor anymore. Except maybe the makers of the Baldwin piano. Maybe.
If anyone out there knows of a really good grammar textbook for middle school English class, please let me know. I explained to the students the definitions of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, verbals, prepositions, interjections, and conjunctions, gave them examples, talked about the rules, and then had them highlight these items in copies of their own essays on To Kill a Mockingbird.
They kept peppering me with questions about which word belonged to which category, seemingly unable to figure out for themselves what to do. It nearly drove me bonkers.
So I need ideas, if anyone has any. Thank you!

no ideas on grammar. sorry. oh, one: there were those ads on tv a while a go: "A verb is a thing you do." they made an impact on rylan. i wonder if you did a google search for that, it might lead you to more teaching materials that are that peppy and memorable.....
i agree with you on alec baldwin, although i think he's an ass if he quits the tv show he's on, cuz then he's ruining the lives of a bunch of other people. what a jerk.
and i forgot to mention, eve arden. when i was really young, like maybe even 8 or younger, i admired and even related to eve arden! how sad is that?? she was in some show where she was a secretary surrounded by men, and all the typical sexist stuff went on. i guess since i had 3 brothers, i felt like her - alone in a sea of male-ness. anyway, i look at her now and think, "i wanted to be her???!?"
